How did it all begin? muses Jurgen Bauer, regional director of TENESO’s tectraxx business unit. “Well, we need to go back even further in time” As early as the 1990’s, Gebruder Weiss (GW) had been working for Hewlett Packard, mainly supplying transport services. “We were also installing the occasional server or printer at that time” says Bauer. It soon became apparent that special requests from customers operating in the technology sector were difficult to integrate into the standard transport routines. It was felt that a new logistics concept should be put into place. The initial impetus for the creation of a dedicated division was a large scale outsourcing project with telecoms group Alcatel in 1999. GW took on a completely new set of responsibilities that included technical services in combination with warehousing. tectraxx was formed expressly to provide an expert point of contact for companies supplying technological products or services.
Initially, tectraxx focused on the telecoms industry offering its value added warehousing, repair solution and technical distribution services. Mobile telephony was booming in Eastern Europe as new networks were being rolled out and new providers were entering the market.
Meanwhile, the demand for Hi Tech logistics continued to grow. By the end of 2009 and following continued growth tectraxx became a partner in the TENESO Europe SE group of companies. Medical equipment or ATM’s, however, present new challenges as managing director Bernd Breugem explains. “The transport and installation of a CT scanner may require the use of a crane truck, and in the most extreme scenarios, partition walls may need to be temporarily removed. tectraxx hopes to win more orders of this type in the future with the support of specialists from TENESO Europe SE, an alliance of Hi Tech providers”
“In collaboration with the TENESO Europe SE network, we have been able to consolidate our services in the area of technical distribution” says Breugem with satisfaction. “We have managed to acquire some prominent customers in medical engineering and printing / imaging” and tectraxx credentials with regard to service and flexibility are evident in helping meet clients needs.
tectraxx this year celebrates its 10th anniversary. Jurgen Bauer is proud that “we have been able to make the connection between technology and transportation that is so much in demand with customers” He is also delighted that the level of expertise within the company has steadily increased – thanks in no small part to the efforts of its own workforce. Bauer is pleased with the way that employees who were taken on primarily as drivers can now handle the even the more complex type of installation work. “Every customer who comes through the door should be instantly aware that our staff are thoroughly expert in the field of Hi Tech logistics”
Bernd Breugem adds, “We will continue to respond flexibly to customer requirements, to grow with our existing customers and to fine tune our services The aim is to make increased use of the GW structures in Central and Eastern Europe to widen the choice of trans-nation solutions from a single provider. The ultimate objective for tectraxx is to ensure that the concept of combined technical and logistics services becomes synonymous with the TENESO Europe SE brand in the whole of Eastern and Central Europe…and not just Austria
