Ricky Wapshott celebrates 20 years working for Bishopsgate. Employee #5, times were a bit different back then working out of a small warehouse on the Slough Trading Estate and covering the whole of the UK from 1 depot! “When I started, we primarily moved IT equipment and I remember that we had contracts with The Woolwich Building Society installing ATM’s and Sun installing populated server cabinets. I guess I do not like change but I’ve seen lots of changes at Bishopsgate in the past 20 years. Who would have thought that we would have bought the specialist services division of Allports! Going back to Slough in the summer working out of the old Allports depot was certainly a deja vu experience for me…and it was easy getting there and back from home”
Bishopsgate moved in October to a new facility in Park Royal, London and Ricky has brought a new apprentice with him; his son Connor. “I think it will be a good opportunity for Connor who is at the start of his career. You need a computer degree nowadays to do some of the things that we have to do so I can leave that bit to Connor” With over 20 years experience in the industry, we all know that Connor will be in excellent hands.
well done Ricky, who’d of thought all those years ago you would still be at Bishopsgate, let alone introducing your youngest to the company. great memories at Aberdeen Ave & Henley Rd,
all the best pal.
