Earlier this year CSCS decided to discontinue the white Construction Related Occupation card. In order to minimise any potential disruption on site and having sought advice Bishopsgate decided to invest and carry the yellow Construction Site Visitor card. CSCS has now announced plans to withdraw the yellow Construction Site Visitor card and will stop issuing them from 28th February 2020. Our current Construction Site Visitor cards will remain valid until their expiry date and Bishopsgate will continue to apply for the cards for as long as they are available.
CSCS cards are intended for construction related occupations only, meaning that Bishopsgate card holders, because they are working in a non-construction related occupation, will not be required to obtain another CSCS card.
A full list of occupations removed from the scheme can be found here: https://www.cscs.uk.com/resource/cro-occupations-removed-from-the-scheme/
The list includes the following:
- ATM Installation Operative
- Drinks Equipment Installer
- Gym & Sports Equipment Installer
- Haulier
- Overhead Patient Hoist Installer
- Safe Vault Installer
- Vending Machine Installer
There will no doubt be some concern following these changes and we ask for your help to raise awareness to your customers, as some may continue to insist we carry a CSCS card. The withdrawal of the site visitor card will result in an increase of individuals turning up to site without a card and customers must be aware that they should not be turned away. It is now the responsibility of the site agents to induct and supervise our crews to ensure they remain safe at all times
