Jake Bloch has overseen the expansion of the company fleet with the introduction of 8 ‘new’ vehicles this winter. Equipped to the very highest specification, 4 are direct ‘like for like’ replacements but 4 have been brought in to support the growth in the business alongside the new Tamworth depot which opened in September. Many of the vehicles have unique specifications that reflect and will support our new areas of operation including crew cabs, 4t tail lifts, air ride suspension and the latest safety features and automated braking systems.
In an interview with Rygor, Bishopsgate’s chosen Mercedes Benz commercial vehicle dealer, Jake said: “It is integral to our business culture to invest in the safety of our drivers, other road users and pedestrians. This is why we have always chosen Mercedes-Benz Actros and Atego trucks with Active Brake Assist. After seeing the safety features in action first hand, at a recent Mercedes Benz demonstration, we were impressed at how advanced the technology was, especially Automatic Emergency Braking and Proximity Control Assist” He adds” Operating large heavy trucks in built-up environments like London meant installing safety packs on our latest order of Mercedes-Benz trucks from Rygor, made complete sense. We looked at the cost and for the investment we got so much in return: driver safety, comfort, driving aids, a positive and safe team mentality. Our team can see that we invest in their safety and in turn, they make the safety of themselves and others a priority. We obviously hope that our drivers are never in a situation where they need to use or rely on some of the features, but there is the reassurance in knowing the technology is there as a backup. Our insurers focus on safety and what we do as a business to ensure the wellbeing of our team and those we come into contact with. No doubt this investment from our part will continue to show our commitment to this ethos.”
As 4 of the new vehicles were an expansion of the Bishopsgate fleet, this meant the hunt for Quiz Jam questions was on! Jake asked the company to come up with some suggestions with the best being picked for use on the latest vehicles. Rory Hadley (Tamworth Driver Trainer) and Mark Dowling (Swindon Warehouse Manager) came up with the prize winning, top 2 questions as follows;
